Extension of the provincial winter works agricultural job corps program to cover all livestock farmers. Manitoba introduces a farm assistance job corps as part of the 12 million Provincial Employment Program. Tests Show Older Cars Often Require Repairs
Highways Minister Peter Burtniak announced results from Manitoba mobile motor vehicle tests focused on older cars. About 30 percent passing initial inspections in Winnipeg Bradon and Morden versus under 20 percent in Dauphin Thompson Flin Flon and Selkirk. Overall two thirds rejected. 636 deemed hazardous and to be withdrawn immediately. Five percent of 1965 and earlier vehicles fall into hazard. About 8,000 rechecked after repairs. 923 still rejected. 22 of 504 re-submitted hazardous. Main faults include uneven braking cracked brake hoses inoperative brake lights poor visibility defective headlights or signals.
