Nitrate Soil Analysis Offered This Fall
Farmers can obtain a nitrate test starting September 16 from the Provincial Soil Testing Laboratory alongside the regular soil analysis. The service targets fields with known phosphorus and potassium levels and will provide nitrogen recommendations only. Phosphorus and potassium applications follow prior soil tests or standard agricultural guidance.
Nitrate Analysis Priority for Fall Fertilizer Orders
Peter Fehr of the provincial soil testing service says nitrate nitrogen must be analyzed yearly while phosphorus and potassium need only every four to five years. The lab will prioritize nitrate tests from Sept 15 to Oct 15 to support fall nitrogen fertilizer orders.
