Francis QO Fallon of Hutinson Minnesota drove to visit his sister Mrs A Sanders in Merridale after twenty years. A letter dated May 30 1947 from Albert L Martin a Vera Cruz banker describes a scam involving a trunk of money at a United States Custom House. An 18 year old daughter is alleged to be at a boarding school as Martins claims destitution and requests aid in accessing the funds for one third of the money.

The Manitoba Power Commission reports July generation of 9,694,810 kilowatt hours an increase of 30.04 percent year over year.
