Deepdale School Opens with Mr Morris in Charge

Deepdale welcomes students as school opens on Monday August 29 with Mr Morris leading. McNeill Burke Wedding at United Church

Miss Lynn Burke and Rev. James McNeill married in a Sunday ceremony at the United Church. Officiants were Rev. A B Baird of Manitoba College and Rev. Robert Harvey with vows followed by a reception at the bride’s uncle’s farm. The couple plans to reside in Finerson Manitoba after a Detroit Lakes honeymoon.

Prairie chickens remain closed season in Manitoba

Alberta minister Albert Prefontaine announces a continued closed season on prairie chickens across Manitoba after consulting reports province wide. He urges public cooperation to protect the province's finest game bird while outlining duck and goose seasons and the revised big game dates from November 21 to 30.

Mr and Mrs Frank Dixon of Kam sack visited with Mrs and Mr Tom Dixon. Miss Margaret Burrell spent the weekend at Alva as guest of her sister Mrs G Murray. UFWM E quilting bee held at the hall on Tuesday the ninth. Mr Mervin Evans of Makaroff Weed Inspector for this ward is busy in the neighborhood. Mr and Mrs W Elm visiting with Mrs Margaret McKnight, motored from Brandon. Mr T Burrell and John Greenian dug a well for Mr W Beatty, air too thin for safety at Makaroff. The regular UF.M meeting Friday evening focused on Municipal Doctor, Junior UF.M served Ice Cream and Coke.

Obituary of Mae Georgina Crane of Makaroff

Mae Georgina Crane died at home in Makaroff on a Thursday morning after a short illness in her twelfth year. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs T G Crane, survived by one sister and three brothers. Funeral services were held August 12, conducted by Rev H T Smith, with interment in Makaroff cemetery. Floral tributes came from Makaroff Sunday School, C G L and Rob n C G L, and many friends.
