The Manitoba Community Newspaper Association's Great Pony Express Race from Melita to Morris beat regular mail by four hours on 202 miles. Postmaster General Jean Jacques Blais called it great fun and noted improved second class mail delivery now arriving in one to two days.

Postal service critique fuels MCNA protest race effort

Direct Home Improvers Face Manitoba Licence Probe

Direct Home Improvers are under scrutiny for operating without a Manitoba licence after prior Saskatchewan convictions. They allegedly overcharged a Manitoba woman for exterior painting, more than double a tradesman estimate. Residents urged to contact the Manitoba Consumers' Bureau at 1 800 262 8844 or RCMP detachment if a seller cannot show a licence.
