Manitoba critic slams Bipole III review and recommends project
The Manitoba Clean Environment Commission issued a July report to the Minister of Conservation supporting licensing of the Bipole III Transmission Project. The critique notes serious deficiencies in Hydro's Environmental Impact Statement yet the panel still urged the project to proceed, citing cost at about 3.28 billion and anticipated higher consumer electricity bills. The document concludes the commission could have rejected the EIS but chose to recommend continued expansion despite concerns.
