Baseball teams' growing talent reshapes regional play

The league expanded from 50 to about 180 players over three years and three teams advanced from five regional rivals to the provincial championships. Langstaff credits rising skill levels as key, while coach Keith Warner notes nerves at Hamiota and calls for continued expansion possibly adding a midget division next year. The Pee Wees fell to Virden 9-6, routed Winnipeg-Sanford 17-5, then were eliminated by Freidenfeld 9-6.

Bantams Crowned Silver Medalists After Strong Run

Roblin bantams advanced from a three team pool to semifinals on Sunday. They beat Shoal Lake 22-9 and Loxton 8-2, then trailed Thompson 10-2 but rallied to win with a seventh inning home run. Coach Randy Langstaff hailed an errorless start and a promising next year with most players gaining experience.
