Province tightens Mortgage Act to warn reverse mortgage buyers
The province amends the Mortgage Act to require lenders to disclose clear costs and conditions of reverse mortgages. Information must be provided at least seven days before signing, based on senior and lender consultations. No payments until death or sale, but debt may grow quickly.
