In Rural Municipality of Shell River affairs, readers debate the Auditor's 1922 1932 financials. Letters urge transparent yearly receipts and expenditures, questioning grants and salaries, and urging reform to curb misappropriation and public controversy. W J Powell and others cite shortages and improper accounting, urging stronger oversight and council action.
Edna Dick visits Rapid City while the picture show closes for summer from May 7. Arbor Day set for May 14 with citizen participation urged. Auction sales announced at W Evans Jewelery and a farm auction by J A Williamson. New ads from Deepdale and S T Argent. Matinee for school children at picture show Friday with 10 and 20 cent pricing.
The Roblin Shell River meeting on April 12 1928 chaired by Reeve Rogers reviewed last minutes, canceled a 188 tax levied on Roblin as an error, discussed third reading bylaw to borrow 25000 from Union Bank, approved school district realignments involving Goose Lake and Makaroff, and listed lands and values for 1933 tax rolls with multiple bylaw considerations and transfers.
In a brief council session the motion for the usual indemnity was carried. The vote followed by a closed motion with names including Thompson and Kines. The council then adjourned the meeting.
Canada Employment Service data project farm workers will earn about 40 dollars monthly plus board from spring to freeze up. Many winter applicants favored other jobs, but March end availability draws workers. Farm labor supply will rise from released farm work and migration, with Old Countrymen and Dutch arriving in April. Wages likely between 35 and 40 dollars unless a highly skilled worker is found.
