A Federation study of 300 Ontario firms shows 18 percent already run a plant in the United States and 25 percent have considered relocating. High Canadian labor costs, taxes, and red tape drive many to the U.S., risking over 75,000 Ontario jobs.
The 1984 Summer Safety Campaign urges drivers to plan trips, study itineraries, and stay focused on the road. It advises preventive vehicle maintenance, proper trailer hitch safety, and patience on highways during peak tourist travel.
A Roblin and District Chamber of Commerce approved distributing a petition promoting a reforestation proposal. The plan envisages removing old trees and replacing them with rapidly maturing poplars, with a new concept in forest management gaining traction. Mr. Boguski led the public petition to chamber members for regional backing.
Blaine Valerie and Carla Murray of Winnipeg visited Herb and Mary Murray for Easter. Bob Lowe and family from Calgary joined Harvey and Betty McMurray, with Matthe w David christened in Togo. Attendees included George and Helen Lowe, Caroline Hobey, Donna and Dave Lorch, Nelson Skomorowski, Anglene and Tommy, Orville and Elaine Wilson, Garry and Karen Kennedy, and Earle McGinnis relations. Several relatives from The Pas, Russell, Roblin, Snow Lake, Kin dersley, Saskatoon and Craik gathered. Mrs Murray released from Yorkton Hospital Tuesday.
Community members from Roblin and nearby towns welcomed guests and enjoyed family visits over Good Friday and the Easter weekend. Notable stops included the Erwin Baumung farm, visits to the Tummon home, and travelers from Saskatoon Medicine Hat The Pas Nanaimo and Calgary joining for meals and hospitality.
Visiting with Leonard and Shirley Grundy over Easter were Ed Staub of Prince George Mary Nabe of Togo Ken and Gertie Franklin Brian Sue and Robert of The Pas Debbie Grundy of Winnipeg Harold Betty and Darcy Grundy of Brandon. Birthday wishes to Cliff Beattie on April 28.
Mrs Nellie Bilous of Yorkton Saskatchewan visited Annie Titanich over the weekend. Mr and Mrs Larry Harlow and family of Dauphin visited Annie Titanich. Ray and Cheryle Titanich and Corinn of Winnipeg joined Easter celebrations with Annie Titanich. They all visited Marvin Middleton and family in Willowbrook Saskatchewan for the holiday.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Becker and family visited Lena Bencharski of Grandview on Easter Sunday. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cowburn and Mr. Bruce Cowburn of Winnipeg at the same home.
