Gas tax permits destroyed by fire in Manitoba loss
Manitoba faces loss of gas tax permits for 49000 farmers and 1400 fishermen after a fire damaged the historic revenue building. Treasurer C E Greenlay says new permits must be issued via the Gas Tax Division, with fast submissions to avoid refund delays. About 78000 refunds for 1956 57 were already mailed. 1700 applications in processing were destroyed. Farmers and fishermen with pending cheques should inquire in writing with 1956 permit numbers.
