The Union Church held Sunday services with Rev. Robert Harvey leading subjects on Tummel and Cromarty and Fragrant Service. The Oddfellows and Rebekahs attended the evening worship. A large audience enjoyed a church club musical night led by Miss Rogers, with Balne's orchestra and Miss Arthur presenting a paper on music.
The regular meeting of the Womens Institute was held at Mrs Lundy's home. Demonstrations of sewing and new patterns for children's rompers and dresses were shown with borrowable samples from Eaton's and Robertson's. Delegates to provincial and district conventions were appointed, lunch committee finances discussed, skating committee funded, and plans for a garden exchange were announced for the next basement church meeting.
A local gathering in Tummel honored Mrs Lammie and her family with music and a farewell address. Mrs Ritchie read a tribute noting nineteen years of service and sacrifice, citing school founding efforts and church, social, and intellectual support. Gifts included a fruit bowl, meat fork and berry spoon, and gold cuff links.
Brown family spends Easter in district while farmers attend Roblin sale. Mr McDowell plans Winnipeg trip to pursue trade. Easter service led by A Chisholm drew a large congregation. Sam Johnston of Grandview visits relatives. Prayer meeting at H Jaasund's home drew many. Jaasund has contracted logs to Sandy Deering, a respected lawyer. Foreign Mission Society met at Riverview Jant Friday with many attendees. Graham family plans move to Kamsack to open a birthing house. May success hoped. A non-Christian deed occurred Sunday when unknown party burned cemetery rear area, fences, and tombstones. author doubts the act was thought through.
Togo residents report visits among neighbors and town officials with several local trips to Kam Sack Makaroff Dauphin and Winnipeg. The Togo Curling Club annual meeting elected Stanley King president and a new executive. Easter Monday program by All Saints Jr W A under Mia Thompson received praise though full program cannot be printed. Christabel a young singer shows promise for the future.
Jim Poyser returns from Winnipeg after a week visiting friends and relatives. Merridale school closes for Easter. attendance strong with only three absentees last month. Rev Miller of Bield preaches at Riverview and Merridale, despite impassable roads and missing his dinner. Auctioneer Art Williamson praises the Merridale lads as truthful and honest.
Audit of Rural Municipality of Hillsburg for 1923 shows tax collections of 17182.41 with a tax roll of 837041.05 outstanding at year end. Monies recorded properly, payments by cheque authorized by Finance Committee, arrears notices issued, bank balances reconciled with Union Bank Hoblin, cash verified by count, and five statements presented detailing financial position as of December 31, 1929.
