Eighth Meeting Notes from Silver Spurs Club

The Silver Spurs held their 8th meeting of the project year on April 14 at the Onofriechuk residence. The group discussed bake sale and raffle plans for April 17 and noted Rally Day Achievement Day and 4 H demonstrations. The meeting adjourned at 10 p.m. after a lunch. W Micha luk won the $85 food hamper, Earl Mickelson second, and Tim Stephanow won the cake raffle.

Ward Appropriations Set By Shell River Council

The Rural Municipality of Shell River Council met April 12 1976 at 7 30 p m with Reeve F H Wilson and councillors present. Estimates for 1976 were adopted and Budget by law 477 A read. The capital program for 1977 80 was approved including a 1979 tractor purchase of 60000. Ward 1 13600 Ward 2 12400 Ward 3 14200 Ward 4 16600 road budgets and subdivision transfers to Roblin were noted. Ambulance grant of 1690 to be applied for and 3696 40 1976 Roblin Veterinary Service District levy due.

Roof Work Begins at Roblin Intermediate School

Hawryluk Construction starts roof construction at Roblin Intermediate School with seven to eight classrooms blocked off. staging houses students in nearby temporary rooms and completion targeted in six months. The board vows firmer facility use rules as groups overtax and misuse spaces. New provincial rules let 18 year olds drive school buses and require safety drills and evacuation practice. routes may be combined to save costs between Oct 1 and Nov 30 and Feb 1 and Mar 31.

Students and staff arrive for Moose?hall trip in Mohall ND

About 80 students and teachers were billeted at a Mohall North Dakota school after arrival last Monday. The group included choir members and other students who attended a concert with the chorus and band on Monday evening and Tuesday morning. Badminton season results crowned Terry Chernesky in boys singles and doubles with Terry Hawryluk, Rochelle Ballard in girls singles, and various doubles and mixed pairings. Mr and Mrs Greg Boyce of Calgary visited over the weekend at the home of Mr and Mrs Win Truffyn.

Goose Lake High to Host Project Day With Exhibits

Goose Lake High School schedules a second annual project day during parent teacher interviews on Monday evening April 26 and Tuesday April 27 all day. Exhibits from all subjects will display in the auditorium labs and library with student guides available. A question and answer booth will address the credits student aid and related topics prompted by parent questionnaires. Boulton Council Adopts Capital Expenditure Program

The Rural Municipality of Boulton met April 8 1976 with four councillors present. By law 494 funds charitable and agricultural grants for 1975. The council prepared a five year Capital Program and adopted 1976-1977 estimates. By law 495 set 1976 tax rates. Snow fence setup fees were fixed at $8 per roll.

Hunters Safety Crest Handouts At Boggy 4-H Meeting

On March 30 at John Sawatzky’s residence the Boggy Greek 4-H handed out crests to members who passed the Hunter’s Safety test. Recipients include John Townsend Glen Andrusiak Edith Russett Danny Poika Rich Russett Grant Bangle Bradley Sylvester David Mctinnis Romona Poitra James Sawatzky Eugene Sawatzky and Elvis Paul. George Giles won the Hunter’s Safety raffle a semiautomatic rifle. Gilbert La Plante won the grocery hamper. Thirteen visitors attended led by John Watkins who led a sing along. Hillsburg council approves 1976 budget and ward appropriations

Hillsburg council on April 9 1976 adopted By-law No 524 setting the 1976 budget and tax rates with Farm & Res funds totaling 110.0 mills and Other 142.0 mills. Ward 1–4 appropriations total 48 500 for road work. Council to hire solicitor E W Demkin for railway crossing case and signed rights of way with Manitoba Telephone System.

Park District Sets Mill Rates and 1976 Budget

The Local Government District of Park council met April 12 1976 in Russell Manitoba with Reeve Nowalkowski presiding. They discussed cost sharing ambulance services with Rossburn Shoal Lake and approved 1976 expenditures and mill rates including general government 43.9449 mills and fiscal services 143.98126 mills totaling 270873.23 in expenditures with by laws on salary adjustments and planning advisory committee.

Easter Egg Decorating Winners Named by Ukrainian Committee

The Ukrainian Cultural Committee announced winners in the Easter egg decorating contest with Nellie Kowalyk guiding instruction. Top placements went to Cheryl Kowalyk first Darrell Kowalyk second Michelle Puritch third in the under twelve group and Deborah Puritch won in the thirteen and over class. Bake sale prizes went to Nellie Lupichuk for the cake and Doris Kurchak Madeline Ireland and Marnie Riach won the three Easter eggs. Five $100 scholarships for a Ukrainian course are open at Goose Lake Hi and St. Vlad's with entries due April 28.
