What does spring mean on the Prairies in Manitoba and Calgary
In a reflective diary style from early March to April 2007 a Calgary resident recalls spring meanings. The piece lists signs like songbirds, longer sun, snow melting, new plants, potholes, home projects, family plans, rocks, road repairs, rain, ice melt, newborn animals, nests, green grass and garage sales. It notes Prairie tradition as Next Year Country and questions if spring will arrive with fresh snow still present in mid April 2007.
