A wartime plea urges Canadians to vote Yes on the April 27 plebiscite to empower the government for total war. It stresses unity cooperation, warns against No or abstention, and calls for sacrifice to defeat Hitler and secure victory.
The report outlines wartime measures including guerrilla units on the Pacific coast and intensified training for paratroop tactics. It notes a 15 percent rise in the cost of living, railway revenues near peak levels, and a plebiscite question on government obligations to raise troops. Major General Browne is named Director-General of the Reserve Army with 40 days of annual training planned for reservists.
The Canada approved flour and bread will be marketed April 15 with a government stamp and a minimum of 365 international units of Vitamin B1 per pound. Developed by Dr L H Newman at the Dominion Experimental Farm Ottawa, the product retains natural B1 from wheat kernel with no synthetic additives. The bread and flour are white but not extremely bleached and are promoted to boost health and energy for adults and children, with strong emphasis on women.
