The Shell River Village Council meeting in Roblin on the 87th day of March 1096 opened with Reeve Rogers presiding and councillors present. Items approved included a billiards licensing by law, relief for Mrs E Rogers under Soldiers Taxation Relief Act, admission of Bill Druskin to the Home of Incurables, cancellation of taxes amounting to 853.85 for NBF quarter 18-25-29, monthly support of Mrs F Yahodynski and six children, leasing of the 8 FB quarter 86-26-28 to Fred Tytansih, acceptance of James Christie’s municipal taxes with conditions on unoccupied lands tax, appointment of ward weed inspectors for June to September 1924, annual councillor spring road repair allowances of 100 each, and accounts totaling 1081.85 Winnipeg General Hospital, 86.97 Western Municipal News, 2.75 N Kapey, 7.50 T G Burroughs. Indemnity for council approved.
Under the Ladies Guild, a Silver Tea and Bazaar featuring home cooking will be held in the church basement on Saturday April 18 from 8 AM to 6 PM. Donations gratefully accepted. The Anglican Ladies Guild holds its far monthly meeting at Mrs Fra lick’s home Monday April 14 at 7:80 PM. all members urged to attend for important business.
The Union Church notes Sunday topics by Rev Robert Harvey M A B D including Tammel and Cromarty addresses and a children's program. The April Crusader issue is available from the minister. TNT Trail Rangers held a first hike and camp supper with riders marching three miles, camp fires, meals, songs and a devotional period for 16 boys.
April activities include a whist drive and dance for the local A F M, Easter Monday supper in the church basement, and a concert after Misa T Wallace’s hospital admission for appendicitis. Farmers haul lumber for a new community hall as 7 new Farmers Union members join. Makaroff Dramatic Society staged The Road to the City at Silverwood School House April 4 with dancing and refreshments. The drive netted 14 9 50 for the Dramatic Society.
Community notes welcome Mr and Mrs Hunt and family who plan to stay in the TamMe district, praising the value of their presence. Local groups report meetings of the Women's Missionary Society and Women's Institute with demonstrations, quilting bees, and bee keeping plans benefiting Presbyterian Hospital. A The Tummer Church Club hosted a Longfellow themed literary evening featuring readings, a Courtship of Miles Standish drama, and praise for organizers and speakers. Despite poor roads, a large audience attended and praised the winter program and finances.
A string of visits and seasonal plans includes Mr H Jeasund in Winnipeg on business, Pete McDuffee in Bield, and A Steffano renting Pete Hrynchukes farm for the season. Residents travel to Fort Francis and Dauphin for work and medical care, with recovery updates from Mrs Scrimshaw and Evert Porteous. Local clubs report small but lively events, fund proceeds to the W I Ladies, and Makaro Girls Club plans a pantry sale and altar carpet.
The Roblin Skating Club hosts a dance in the Assembly Hall on Friday April Vth with lunch served.
Mrs Howe and Margaret visit Kamsack while Geo Lee from Togo spent the weekend with friends. Hazel Eliott returns from Roblin. Charles Grundy seriously ill with unchanged condition. Jeff Davis surprised his mother for a visit. Makaroff Players presented The Road to the City in Silverwood to a crowded house. Mr J McNeill absent. J T Crane led a Sunday song service. April services planned until McNeill returns. Ladies Aid met at Mrs T Walker’s. plan redecorating church interiors and quilting tulip blocks. host served lunch.
R F Painter visited at Kam sack in May May last. J G Sinclair of Makaroff visited in town on Monday. Mise M Lockwood of Wog visited on Thursday last week. Artie Thompson returned this week after winter in Kansay. Mrs Cameron of Makaroff and sister Pearl Paddock visited friends this week. Mrs Dimit returned to town after winter with parents in Uncle Sam's Domain. Mrs R Craven returned after month with daughter Mrs Frampton of Rouleau Sask. Mr Sumner of Lancashire England with wife and son arrived, guest of Mr and Mrs Fred Sumner. Union Church Ladies Aid sale of Unbleached Cotton at Brown Bros. & Cobbs Hardware on Saturday April 19. Refreshments served. Mr and Mrs J Abercrombie entertained a number of friends at a 500 party on Monday evening. Mrs J W Eady won ladies first and W R Kaiser gentlemen first. Our teacher in roomore, Miss Forsythe has left for a day visit at Saskatoon for one month. Miss Beth Thomson teaching during Forsythes absence. The 600 Drive and dance by the Ladies Curling Club on April 1st was largely attended and successful. Music by Watson Cameron and Harvey. hall thickly decorated by the Misses Taylor Thompson and Forsythe. Lunch supplied was all that could be desired.
John Dixon recovers from illness while UF M members built an ice house on March 26. Miss B Wilson visits Mrs A C McKnight to open school. Neighbours helped R McPhail build a new house on Thursday. The new library is ready for circulation with books by favored authors. Howard Wilson has pneumonia but improving. Pastor could not attend Sunday due to bad roads. A C McKnight led a brief service with hymns, lesson, and prayer.
