Ten years ago the funeral for Engineer Jim Files, who died when the Minnewaska bridge collapsed, was held on Sunday with Rev. Ivens presiding. Rev. H. B. Duckworth received Rivers and Petta piece charges Friday. Wheat prices fell sharply for the season, under 70c.
The Excelsior Lodge L O B A hosts an Elocution Contest on Friday October 16 at 7 45 p m in Odd Fellows Hall. Open to children ages 10 to 16 from Rivers and surrounding districts with entry fee 25 cents due by October 1. Prizes include a new gold medal after silver medals, plus other prizes. selections must be chosen from listed titles.
Under ideal weather and a 10 am start, Rivers Golf Club held its second tournament. Mr Hober led with a net 83 from 14 handicap, Hedberg shot 98, Grummett 99 minus 18, Hanlon won the approaching event, Hober also won the driving contest with 200 yards, Mrs Hedberg topped the ladies with 99 and won the ladies driving with 125 yards.
The Saskatoon Pool in its first year moved over 1 000 000 bushels and used about 40 000 freight cars. Canadian Banks cooperate with the Pools and banking executives praise the soundness and foresight of financiers supporting orderly marketing in the three Prairie Provinces.
The choir will wear gowns adopted by many churches and expect arrival in time for next Sunday's service. Special music will be rendered with assistance from Mr. Geo. Kite of Pettapiece.

About a thousand culled fowls weighed graded and shipped by the Manitoba Poultry Marketing Association. The car also carried similar birds from Minnedosa. Mr McCulloch head of the provincial Dominion Poultry Association and Me Thiibreth led the operation. Birds over 4 pounds graded heavy under that weight light. Initial payment of 8c per pound. This was the sixth car shipped from Manitoba with three more expected.
Authorities warn that the Motor Vehicle Act will be strictly enforced. Prosecutions will target minors driving without permits, improper right of way, illegal turns, and cars with insufficient lights.
