Infant son of Mr and Mrs SB Nunn dies in Wheatland with funeral at home officiated by Rev Fr Murphy Fraidon. Burial at Rivers cemetery with pallbearers Olive Mills Vera Perrett Olive Forman Nellie Bell.
Local event invites residents to begin Christmas shopping early at the Bazaar this Saturday. Vendors from area shops will offer gift items, decorations, and seasonal specials.
Several farm stock and implement sales are listed for the district soon. Fact posters show events on October 30 near Rivers, November 8 near Bradwardine, and November 14 near Rivers with appointed auctioneers and locations.
Last Saturday afternoon the Bijou Theatre held the annual Potato Matinee for children with prizes for the largest titbers. Winners were Frank Machan first, William Watson second, and Gordon Isbell tied with Margaret Dewar for third. Prizes were 15, 10 and 5 free admissions respectively. The auditor acted as judge.
Mr and Mrs B Nunn thank friends for kindness and sympathy in the death of their little son. Special thanks to Mrs G Perrett for untiring aid day and night during his illness.
Town of Rivers warns that any person trespassing or damaging property on Halloween night will be prosecuted by order.
Sunday School at St. Janes held an afternoon session with attentive results and clear recall of lessons. Elsie Barker and Sadie Archimbault performed recitations and a duet. A letter from Archbishop was read, sand table demonstration delighted the tots, and Rev. S. L. Nash led the evening service with the Sunday School choir.
The Anglican Church schedules Harvest Thanksgiving services on Sunday October 28 in Wheatland at 11 a.m Bradwardine at 3 p.m and Rivers at 7 30 p.m Archdeacon Thomas of Winnipeg General Missionary of the Diocese preaches in Bradwardine and Rivers Special offerings will support the Diocese Mission Funds.
The Canadian Pacific Railway added twelve new mail and baggage coaches to its rolling stock to improve mail handling. Designed by C H Temple and built by Canada Car and Foundry, the coaches carry 40 tons total and feature six wheel trucks and diaphragm ends for safety. They will run Montreal to Toronto, Montreal to Sault Ste Marie, Toronto to St John NB, Winnipeg, and Edmonton routes.
