Dominion economists warn of potential farm land boom
Economists from the Dominion department of agriculture warn farmers that wartime speculation risks repeating patterns seen after the last war. Land values are rising across Canada from 24 dollars in 1935–40 to 28 dollars in 1943, with a moderate boom in most provinces except Saskatchewan and possibly British Columbia. Land climbed to 48 dollars an acre in 1920, then halved by the 1930s.
