A. W. Stephens auditor certifies the July 10 1924 assets and liabilities statement from Rivers Consolidated School District accurately reflects Bebool District position as of that date.
The report notes a 64 pound four foot salmon caught near Vancouver by A. C. Cohen. It highlights Irwin S. Cobb’s hunting in Canada and Miss Margaret Bondfield’s visit to study immigrant conditions. It cites Quebec’s wildlife conservation with 500 clubs and 1000 wardens, plus the Trans-Canada Limited season end and Chateau Lake Louise hotel expansion to nine stories with 250 bedrooms.
The Gazette records the death of Alliston White elder son of Mr and Mrs T A White near their farm after a loaded rifle discharged at the barn. Evan White, the younger son, unintentionally triggered the rifle as it was hung, the bullet entering near the chin and severing the jugular vein. Alliston died within an hour after reaching home, with funeral services held Monday at the family residence and Tarbolton Cemetery interment. The community offers sympathy to the bereaved parents and siblings Esme Ada and Evan.
One of Rivers oldest businesses has changed ownership. The Rivers Drug Store, started in early 1908 and run by Misses Mary and Agnes Stuart for years, is sold to O S Hober of Winnipeg. The Stuarts leave for Winnipeg this week. Hober has managed the store recently and is warmly welcomed to the community.

Dr P C Hughes of Brandon will make regular trips to Rivers every Friday staying all day weather permitting through November seventh inclusive. Chicken shooting season opened yesterday the fifteenth and runs until Saturday.
An invitation to St James’ Sunday School members and friends for an open session on Oct 19 at 2:30 PM with old time hymns and a child’s address. Evening service follows at 7:30 PM as the day is framed as a labor of love in the church calendar.
Anniversary services at Daly Union Church will be held Sunday November 2 with Rev. E R L Howarth of Harding preaching at 11 a.m. and 7 30 p m. A Monday fowl supper in the annex from 5 30 to 8 will precede a program with details to follow. Admission for supper and concert is 7 6 for adults and 25c for children.

The editor of a neighboring paper allegedly picked up a Winchester and walked the street to collect debts. Delinquent subscribers rushed to pay, including a man who cleared a ten year debt. On returning, the editor found hay, potatoes, wood, and a barrel of turnips at the office. A request for a gun follows.
