Community Club Play The Ghost Bird a Big Success

The Rivers Community Club presented The Ghost Bird at OOF Hall on Friday evening drawing a crowded house. The play earned high praise for its humor and strong cast led by Miss H Serbin as Andalusia Andersen and Frank Ashton as Philip Graham with notable turns from Miss M Musgrove and others. A well attended dance by the Nite Hawks capped the event, with financials described as a pronounced success.

Experimental Farm Note at Bran don Promotes Hay Growing

The Experimental Farm at Brandon reports cheap hay production and expanded acreage. Idle work horses and cattle will be fed hay with no grain this winter while warmer hours see them work fields. Over 250 tons of hay were grown last season with carryover to insure liberal feeding and a safety reserve. Western Canadian farmers are urged to improve roughage to cut grain use and keep animals in good winter condition. Mixed hay is preferred over single varieties.

Nomination Day Brings Busy Town Hall Meeting

Tuesday’s nomination day drew a fair crowd in Rivers town hall as officers for the coming year were named. Reeve Seater and several councillors were re elected or unopposed, with Ward 6 facing a contest, while Daly’s council and schoolboard nominees spoke on finances and local issues.

Municipal Doctor Discussed At Public Meeting

A well attended meeting at the 10.0.8. Hall Tuesday evening, called by Mayor Dunemore, discussed a proposed Municipal Doctor. Councillor R. G. Sinclair chaired. Councillor A. Johnson outlined the contract. C. H. Gabe spoke for the scheme. Dr. Spencer and Reeve J. W. Seater attended and supported the plan.

Baritone Tas Isherwood to Give Winnipeg Recital

Ten years ago in the Gazelle this week in 1923 Tas Isherwood a Winnipeg baritone will give a recital in town. Principal Ferrier and Rivers School teachers held a gate of home cooking and candy and served tea. The Canadian National Railways are erecting a new stores building at this point.
