John Reid died Thursday evening at age 12 years 11 months after a short illness from pneumonia. He had recently moved to town to work at the shops and founded the Boy Scout movement in Rivers, earning many friends for his character. A funeral led by Rev. R. E. Lemon was held Friday afternoon. he leaves a wife and young daughter.
Mrs Andrew Popowicz died on Thursday with her baby and husband near death at the time of the funeral. Since then Andrew Popowicz also died, completing a tragic family double loss and leaving sorrow in the community.
Lilian Thomas, young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm Thomas, died Tuesday morning after a brief illness. She was the sole girl among several brothers. The family is struck by illness, with three members in the hospital, and many mourn the loss of one of the community’s early citizens.
Roy Bradshaw age 12 son of Mrs Bradshaw died early Friday from pneumonia. He is survived by his mother a sister and brothers. The remains were taken to Tat Bolton cemetery for interment.
John Edward Halsey longtime Rivers resident and former Grand Trunk Pacific conductor died Sunday from pneumonia in his 39th year. Funeral was held Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church with Rev J B E Anderson officiating in the absence of Rev Duckworth.
