Curlers Hold Meeting at Town Hall

The Curling Club met in the town hall on Tuesday evening with a fair turnout. Discussions centered on rink formation methods to be decided later. The Executive was instructed to confer with the rink manager after tenders are let. Melville Harvey was reelected as secretary treasurer.

Nominations Next Tuesday For Rivers Town Offices

Nominations for Mayor and one councillor from each of wards 1 2 and 3 in the Town of Rivers will be received 1 to 2 p m at the town hall next Tuesday the mayoral term is yearly and councillors serve two years those terms expiring this year are ward 1 T W Offen ward 2 J A Grummett ward 3 N Tivy the Rural Municipality of Daly will nominate a reeve the six ward system has three councillors completing two year terms ward 2 T E Bradley ward 3 T Seens ward 5 S Mills trustees for Rivers Consolidated School District will also be nominated next Tuesday.

Cadet Corps Organizes Drum and Fife Band

This week in the Gazette ten years ago the local Cadet Corps organized a drum and fife band. Whitere, SBbook: Hagen, teaching, a staff of five, and 183 total enrolment. Chas W. Angel leads Anglican services in the parish during the minister’s absence.

Red Cross Appeal Brings Good Response for Manitoba Settlers

Response to a Gazette appeal by the Red Cross Society for clothing to aid needy settlers in Manitoba’s Interlake district exceeded expectations. Winter short courses at Manitoba Agricultural College offer two week programs in Dairy ing, Engineering, Live Stock, Forage Crops, Beekeeping, Poultry, Marketing and Rural Organization. Women may enroll in two week Sewing and foods cooking courses, or Rural Women study. all courses open to women. A circular with details can be obtained. two week courses cost 18 dollars for board, room, and tuition.

Dominion wide baggage delivery system under CNR

Effective November 1 a new system covers collect and deliver baggage from CN Rail stations across the Dominion. Bags may be checked at any CNR point to any destination in Canada or the United States and delivered to the traveler’s address without further action. Delivery charges are collected on delivery by the transfer company.
