A Rivers Curling Club meeting will be held in the Town Hall on Friday evening November 6 at B o clock. All intending to curl are asked to attend as plans are made for the coming season. H A Ireland secretary treasurer L Marsh president.
The harbor program increases Windmill Point elevator capacity to 8 250 006 bushels with 4 more berths and a higher loading rate. Winnipeg reports 11 883 British Isles workers for harvest with many likely staying through winter. CP Railway plans two large steamers and a new pier to support rising trans Pacific trade and tourist traffic.
Friendship Rebekah Lodge members announce a bazaar with home cooking and candy sales and an afternoon tea on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Oddfellows Hall. All welcome.
The annual meeting of St James Amateur Dramatic Club will be held on Monday, Nov 12. Secretary S Simpson invites prospective members before that date. Membership fee is 50 cents, and a part in the new play is almost assured for those with theatrical talent.
Tenders for operating the Rivers skating and curling rink for the 1923 24 season will be received up to Monday noon November 12 by C H Gabe secretary treasurer for particulars.
A meeting of the Rivers Fire Brigade members will be held in the Fire Hall on Friday evening at 7.30. Payment will be made for water tank and Korman Block fire calls.
Rivers School reports October enrolment 51 with average attendance 45.85. Order of merit lists include Class A students Harry Parker through Mary Nowasad, Class B names Lee Forman through Gwen Vining, Class C Frances Tufte through Robert McKenzie, and Class D Gladys Evans through Ruth Taylor. Those neither late nor absent are listed, and G Thompson is the teacher.

The Rivers Union Church held its anniversary services on Sunday with excellent weather and record attendance. Rev. J. M. A. Stewart preached twice, delivering morning and evening sermons that moved the congregation, aided by united choirs from Pettapiece and Rivers and soloists including Mr. Humphrey Davies of Brandon.
Attendance and grades for Room 3 and Grade 3 Jr show student scores. Names include Alice Tufts 94 Francis Paddock 91 Stella Keryvenki 0 and many others with varying marks. Perfect attendance lists Frances Mitchell and several peers.
Listings show Room 4 with students and scores including Keith Mauck 689 percent and Alice Smith 929 in grade levels 4 and 4-A. Several names appear with percentages or partial values alongside others like Hugh Mc Fadden and Pearl Hedberg. Perfect attendance honors go to Gordon Shell Celia Archambault Billy Lyon Marion Evans Clarence Stone Keith Mauck Jack Tivy George Thurman John Cher nos Wilfred Forbes Eileen Lyon and Doris Barker.
A Monday evening event at the Thompson Block drew over 400 attendees for a fowl supper and a packed church concert. Rev. Church of Winnipeg delivered a humorous yet thoughtful talk titled 4000 Smiles in a Flivver, praised for voice memory and delivery, weaving jokes with practical advice. The United Choir and Pettapiece Quartette provided top performances, Humphrey Davies wowed with bass solos, and the National Anthem closed a highly enjoyed anniversary.
Room 5 grades list scores for Mitchell, Taylor, Toy, Machan, Borroff, Johnson, Schriber, Howard, Parker with top marks and several low scores. Grade 5 results show Rose Luchuck, Annie Danilovitch, Hugh Couch leading, plus many others and a note that several students missed one or two exams including Lorne Nesbitt and Jean Warren.
