The members of Pacific Judge No. 71 I O C F will attend divine service at the Methodist Church on Sunday May 23 at 3 30 pm. Rev J B E Anderson will address the brethren. All members to meet at the Odd Fellows Hall at 3 pm. The Rebekah Lodge and visiting members are asked to participate.
A pleasant congregational social occurred Friday evening at the Methodist Church. Reports from church departments opened the program, followed by basement games inclining to a newspaper contest where five groups enacted news, social, editorial, sporting, personal and local sections plus ads. Miss A. Eddy recited Newbull’s Admirals All effectively before light refreshments.
In a May 15 ceremony at 6 p.m. Rev. J B E Anderson united Aletha Edna Kyes and Percy Arden Moore of Melville Saskatchewan. The couple received a warm reception with a large crowd at the depot later that evening and a festive dinner with family and friends.
The editor announces a price increase effective July 1 for annual subscriptions from $1.50 to $2.0. He notes rising production costs, cites industry-wide rises, and promises no loss of subscribers. Existing arrears remain at the old rate, while advertising rates will also rise with patrons informed.
In response to a Presbyterian Church invitation a Rivers committee will meet the Board to discuss steps toward union. C. E. Brooks, formerly of Rivers, is named Superintendent of Motive Power for the G.T.P. railroad.
