A Neepawa letter argues against a heavy dog tax while praising dogs for saving families from fire. It notes dogs hyperactive on streets and urges action to curb nuisance behavior, asserting every boy should have a dog yet streets remain troublesome.
The undersigned merchants of Rivers sign to close all places of business every Wednesday at 12 30 during May June July and August. Names listed include Wareham Bros J E Thompson J A Grommett and others.
A meeting of the Rivers Golf Club is set for Thursday May 7 1925 at the Town Hall to reorganize and elect officers for the ensuing year. Members and those interested are urged to attend. W G Wilkes secretary.
A coordinated effort to beautify the local cemetery is proposed with town council backing. The Gazette will announce a date and leadership for all interested in improving the sacred burial place and invites broad community participation.
Rev W L T Patterson commenced pastoral duties in the Rivers charge on Sunday with an evening talk on The Supremacy of Jesus. Malcolm Mission Band held a concert Thursday evening drawing a good crowd and featuring missionary notes. The group of Trail Rangers led by Frank Ashton won the district shield for best percentage of budget contributions for the Boys Work Board of the Province, presented by Superintendent T W Offen.
Large gathering from the United Church bid farewell to Rev W L T Patteson and family as they leave for Rivers Manitoba. An address praised his pulpit ministry and Mrs Patteson’s choir work. Gifts included community silver for Mrs Patteson and a club bag for Mr Patteson.
Members of Pacific Lodge No. 71 will attend Divine Service on Sunday May 17 at 3 p.m. in Union Church addressed by Rev W L T Patteson. Brethren should meet at the hall at 2 30 and Rebekahs plus visiting brethren are asked to participate.

Five from Great Britain and Europe join delegates from South Africa, Heer, and Australia aboard the Canadian Pacific Montcalm. Notable attendees include Lady Trustram Eve Lady Nott Bower Lady Adam Smith Lady Egerton and Mrs George Cadbury.
