Farm offers 800 acres two miles west of Pettapiece with 600 cultivated acres, a modern 10 room house, attic, large barn, four fenced quarters, good water and pastures. One mile from school and 134 from church. Owner may sell as whole or in two parcels with farming equipment and two teams of work horses included. renters or buyers to state handling position and request further details.
The Rivers School room hosted a district contest with contestants from Lothair Rivers and Robinville. Agnes Smith from Robinville won and advances in the Provincial Oratorical Contest. Judges included Rev. Mr Patteson Miss Sibbald and Miss Bickersgill. The event featured performances by the High School Orchestra and the National Anthem.
Rivers School Trustees met with Dr. Lyon presiding. They approved $159.50 in accounts and voted to join Rapid City Newdale and Cardale schools for a monster Field Day of Sports in Rapid City on the first Friday in June. They also allocated $100 to Rivers Council for a Public Health Nurse salary and noted a $25 efficiency grant from the Strathcona Trust for cadet corps equipment.
The Curling Club completes its second schedule and drafts a bonspiel style plan with two events. Teams compete to fours and knocked out rinks are redrawn for a second event. Finalists from both events will meet to decide overall champion.
The Rivers Community Club presents the comedy drama Marys Castle in the Air in three acts by Lillian Mortimer at Oddfellows Hall Rivers on March 22 and 23 at 8 pm. Thursday is children night 25 cents adults 50 cents. Friday is 50 cents with a dance afterward at an extra charge.
A list of names and roles for a village drama including Mrs. Estabrook Mary and Mimi Carlyle as principal figures. Notable characters include Mrs. Jenkins neighbor and Jane Jenkins a flirtatious daughter, Jim Ruggles the young attorney, Bill Bronson the chauffeur suitor, grocer Lenny Taft and others in the social circle.
The Rivers Hotel Company Limited applies to the Government Liquor Control Commission for a beer license for premises at Lot One and Two, Block Five in Rivers Manitoba, known as the Alexandra Hotel at Main Street and First Avenue. Objections must be filed within ten days of the Manitoba Gazette publication with a hearing to be fixed by the Commission.
Mary Fistabrook’s mother falls destitute after her husband dies by his own hand aided by Edward Carlyle. To escape Carlyle she moves to a country village with a few poor friends as servants. Carlyle pursues ambition while his daughter targets Mary’s sweetheart. Daddy Alden’s calm intervention brings a happy climax.
A humorous anecdote describes Mr Blank angry at a newspaper report after an opening ceremony. The report mocked his visible red nose, provoking his pride to turn to fury as he storms out, leaving his wife puzzled by the wording.
Plans are under way for a Boys and Girls Fair this year. Two carloads of seed oats from Saskatchewan were secured for local grain growers through R M Tucker of the Bank of Commerce. Wesley Pringle foreman of the roundhouse received a farewell dance and presentation before leaving town for the east. High School Boys are being enlisted as Soldiers of the Soil and are taking their exams this month to be free for farm work.

Our Exchanges notes R Coulthard lost seven horses worth 1000 after the animals fell into a bin of wheat and gorged on grain. Clearwater News reports roads opening as snow melts while autos increase. A youth selling vacuums trespassed into a scarlet fever quarantine and was fined 10 dollars plus costs.
City records show resolutions adopted including payments of 65.25 and 580.25 for finance and electric lights. Licenses for F R Moxley and Tor Lam granted for 1928. A public health nurse funded up to 509 with 300 guaranteed by others, and a mail service question to be pursued with authorities.
