The Provincial Red Cross Drive in Rivers came off last week and exceeded its $1400 goal. Promises reached about $2400, with over $600 in cash and the rest payable in coming months. Including a recent $150, the total stood at $2550, with more canvassing and school contributions expected to raise it further.
The W. A. of Christ Church hosts a social evening at Wheatland school on Friday June 28 with a married men vs single baseball game at 6 o clock an apron sale and handkerchief bazaar and ice cream and cake available. The Rivers Dramatic club or group is mentioned.
The Red Cross Auxiliary holds its regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs L Wiegand on Friday at 3 p m. Packing will occur at the town hall after the meeting so articles for shipment may be brought or left. A drawing last Friday awarded ticket No 95 to a donor and raised 6 50 in proceeds. A vote of thanks was given to Mr and Miss Hardy for their gift. Prayer service occurs each Wednesday evening at the Rest Room under Red Cross auspices. Everyone is invited and work is plentiful for volunteers.

Knox Church Rivers plans its Annual Patriotic Service on Sunday evening in June. The highlight is the unveiling of the Honour Roll listing Knox Church members who served. Capt. T. L. Williams of Rapid Cup, a returned hero who lost both limbs in Flanders, will unveil the Roll. Special music accompanies the ceremony.
