Warrant issued by the Reeve of Daly Manitoba directs distraint on land parcels for unpaid taxes and costs. If not paid by June 15 1990 at 2 PM in Wheatland council chamber, lands will be sold at public auction to recover arrears.
The article argues teaching is demanding and urges teachers to take an educational vacation in Canada. Prices for newsprint have climbed from 40 to 80 to 96 dollars per ton in open markets. Latest information shows a range of 120 to 150 dollars, with expectations that the price will surpass 200 dollars per ton soon.
A brief notice states deliveries are available from this moment with options to leave orders personally or drop a card at the post office for pickup or forwarding.
A quiet ceremony on Thursday May 27 at the Chater home joined Miss Jean Chater to Mr Norman McConachie. After the wedding the couple left for a trip through Eastern Canada and the United States and will reside in Rivers upon return.
A meeting to organize a G W V A local in Rivers will be held at Oddfellows hall at 8 p m on Saturday June 12. Returned men are urged to attend and a Manitoba Command representative will be present. Comrades living out of town should note the time and place.
Janet Linklater, aged 73 years 3 months and 20 days, died in Rivers on May 26. Born in Waterloo County Ontario she moved to Pettapiece district in 1880 with her husband who died in 1905. Survived by four children Andrew Edmonton Mrs Forbes Edmonton William Tring James Rivers. Funeral Friday at Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev J B E Anderson. Pallbearers named from local community.
The editor announces a price increase for the Gazette from July 1 to $2 per year. Subscriptions already paid at $1.50 remain valid until the date, and arrears will be charged at the new rate. The change follows rising production costs and mirrors actions by other provincial weekly papers. Ad rates will also rise, to be discussed with advertisers.
