Four Bulgarian rebels foiled plot against former king
Alexandria police stopped a Bulgarian communist rebel plot to assassinate former King Simeon. Justice Minister Garson said the arrested Doukhobor terrorists would be imprisoned in an empty naval barracks at Comox B C despite local protests. He noted attorney-general Mismer of B C agreed as the least undesirable option. Rev H Beecher Jackson was sentenced in Newark to life for stabbing his sexton to death with an ice pick. The British government rejected a Conservative call for an immediate Scottish plebiscite on a separate parliament. Soil drifting in Alberta worsened this year, says G R Stirling in Edmonton.
