Rivers School Board approves debenture deals and by laws
A Rivers School Board meeting on July 19 adopted minutes from June meetings and approved payments of 61.73. It accepted debenture offers from Great West Life for 15000 at 5 percent for 15 years and Mutual Life of Canada for 5000 at 5.9 percent for 15 years. By laws authorizing these debentures for refunding maturing notes were read and finalized. The meeting adjourned.

Has Gloomy View of Western Crops
Hon. J. G. Gardiner, federal agriculture minister, warned Winnipeg that a ten day heat wave has damaged crops in western Manitoba and southern and central Saskatchewan. He cited yields dropping from 20 30 bushels an acre to under 12 in some fields and noted stubble crops and coarse grains are severely affected by heat.

Birtle Club Wins Wide Open Match At Rivers Courts
The Birtle Tennis Club visited Rivers Club on Wednesday for an A group match and won four of five events. Rivers participants included Mrs. C Forman Miss Constance Offen Miss Mary Tivy J J Morrow G M Setter and Fred Bradt. Mary Tivy reached the Provincial Junior Championship final in Winnipeg and later competed in Brandon for the Western Manitoba Tournament.

Line Elevator Companies announce a wheat pool to operate for the 1939 crop under last session legislation. The North-West Grain Dealers Association says the pool seeks to use the Canadian Wheat Board as selling agent and guarantees a pool price of 60 cents in store at Northern Fort William, with initial cash advances possibly lower.
