The Gazette marks its 30th anniversary with a birthday party on Saturday. The Editor and his wife hosted guests at the store transformed into a reception room with help from prominent town ladies. A three tier cake featured prominently as a symbol of goodwill and reminiscence.
The Daly congregation gathered at the Dyer home in Daly to say goodbye to Rev W Harland and Mrs Harland. Walter Sargent presented a clock as a token of appreciation while Mrs E O Dyer read an addressed note from the community. The farewell included warm words, heartfelt thanks, and Auld Lang Syne.

The second daughter of Mr and Mrs D Lowe Phyllis Margaret Lowe married Alexander William Whyte eldest son of Mr and Mrs A Whyte on Monday July 4 at the Lowe home Hradwardine Rev R Hunter officiated guests numbering 35 attended a white pink decor arch and a buffet luncheon afterwards the couple departed for a short motor honeymoon and will reside at Riverside East upon return.

Rivers players journeyed to Rapid City last Thursday for B Division reform matches. They won four of five events including D Morrow’s singles victory over H Rorke 62 62 and the mixed doubles pairing J J Morrow with Mary Tivy defeating Rev A B Smith and Miss E Busby 64 64. The Rivers team was well entertained by the Rapid City Club.
Anglican News Services will be held at Roseville Ancrum and Rivers next Sunday with Mr H H Vines of Emmanuel College Saskatoon in charge.
Next Sunday services at the United Church will be led by Rev W R Donagh with the subject Faith of Our Children at 10 40 a m. Daly conducts the 10 40 a m service Pettapiece leads 3 00 p m and Rivers 7 30 p m with additional details as listed.
A solemn service at the United Church last Thursday evening inducted Rev W.R. Donagh formerly of Ochre River as Pastor. Rev. Birdsall of Kenton acted as Moderator and led the service with remarks from Rev. Hunter and Rev. Russell. The congregation pledged support, and a social hour followed in the church annex allowing members to meet the Donagh family.
Mr and Mrs James McBadden of Rivers Matnizebs announce the marriage of their daughter Alice Louise to Dr Harley B Jenner of Fowchow Szechwan West China. The ceremony occurred in Chengta Szechwan on June 18 1938 with later address at Fowchow West China.
