Mr and Mrs J Lund of Winnipeg announce the engagement of their daughter Margar et to Ronald Edward son of Mr and Mrs E Wonnell of Rivers The wedding is set for July 10 at Knox United Church Winnipeg at 7 pm Rivers Well Baby Centre closes for July for staff holidays and reopens August 8 It has cared for 125 well babies with inoculations vaccinations and checkups and will resume visits August 8.
Meeting of members of CCF Rivers Unit will be held in Four Star theatre on Monday July 9 at 8pm All members are requested to attend this meeting.
Members of St James W A gathered at Mrs N Tivy's home on Wednesday to honor Mrs Thomas Brown on her 85th birthday. A social hour followed by lunch. Auxiliary members sang happy birthday as a cake was presented. Tea was poured by Mrs Tivy Mrs Blandford and Mrs R B Riddick.

Tom Dobson returns to Flin Flon after convalescence. Dr Neilson of Winnipeg with family visited Shuttleworths. Mrs William Common recovering in Winnipeg hospital. Miss Edythe Mitchell of Winnipeg spent the weekend with her mother Mrs J E Mitchell here while Mrs R G Higginson, recently returning from Brandon Hospital after an operation, recovers at home. We wish her steady progress. LAC Irwin Bland, after two and a half years overseas, came home last Sunday to meet his wife Rhoda Higginson and their son Terrance, and the Gazette extends a warm welcome.
A memorial service led by Rev. F. W. Lee honored F Lt Gowdy with hymns and marches by the RCAF band No 1 CNS and local choirs. A wreath ceremony at the monument included a salute from a fighter plane as Rivers Air Cadets and Canadian Legion joined a parade through town past the memorial plot.

The St James and United Church Sunday Schools had planned Thursday picnics at farm homes but heavy rain moved the events indoors. St James held celebrations in the Parish Hall, United Sunday School used the Community Hall for games and supper with ample volunteer help and a wonderful time reported.
