Town notices report a union service planned for next Sunday evening at Knox Church. Several local moves include a census survey by all churches, a call for a soldiers’ meeting, school caretaker duties opening with the new year, and a convention program note for the January 15 trustees meeting.
Mary Churn and Mike Tuchuck were united in marriage January 7 at the home of Peter Luchuck with Rev H B Duckworth officiating. After the ceremony guests shared a lavish repast and the couple will reside on Third Avenue Rivers.
A New Year’s Eve dance at Bradwardine, held in the former Grihan hall, drew about 89 guests. A varied program featured a MacIntosh feast, inspired decorations from Portland Farm, and an orchestra led by Mr Neal. The sword dance by Messrs Richard and Andrew Comman drew special praise. Hugh Wilson managed compere duties with efficiency.
The Churches of Rivers plan a united effort for the United National Campaign of the Forward Movement. A joint service is planned at Knox Church on Sunday evening January 24 with a reader from the Movement. A religious census will be taken by a three church committee to bolster a town wide invitation to attend church services and Sunday School.
