Rivers Hockey Club Announces Valentine Tournament

The Rivers Hockey Club announces a district hockey tournament to be held Friday February 15. Top teams are expected to participate. Admission for adults 25 cents, children 10 cents grants access to all games. A Valentine Dance with Half Good music will follow at the 100 F venue.

February Meeting of Rivers School Board

The Rivers School Trustees held their regular meeting on Wednesday February 6 with J T Bowman chairing. They accepted the Finance Committee report paying 45 16 and approved purchase of Dominion deep seam cobble coal at 4 25 per ton for the school basement. Principal and Attendance Officer January reports were filed. Invitations were extended to visit Feb 7 and 8 for Education Week ceremonies.

Former Rivers Boy Wins Ontario Scholarships

Two war memorial scholarships of £200 each are awarded by the Alumni Federation of the University of Toronto to Wilfad Davison of Blenheim Ont and George E. Thurman of Brandon Man. Thurman shares the second award with Miss Isabelle Jordan of Toronto. Thurman is McMaster trained in economics and science, and his father was killed in action.
