Boxing Day programme lists prizes for best costumes and comics across multiple age groups and genders. Races include youth categories from ages seven to eighteen, plus men women and mixed doubles events, a mile race and a barrel jumping contest to entertain families.

Monday featured a School Christmas Tree concert in Hunters Hall with Santa, followed by holidays and reopening January 6. Miss Jean Hunter visits parents in Reston as Mr and Mrs Avery stay. Reston Club failed to lift the France Cup in Friday rink match. Mrs M Hunter leaves Friday for Winnipeg.
The annual United Church W.M.S. meeting at Mrs. J. A. McKenzie's home Dec 18 reports good year results. Elected officers include Hon. Pres Mrs J H Couch President Mrs R G Sinclair Vice President Mrs Moore Secretary Mrs A Wareham Treasurer Mrs T W Offen Temperance Sec Mrs C Bell Associate Helpers and Strangers Sec Mrs Sinclair Mission Band Leaders Mrs A Wareham Mrs Sinclair and Jean Gunness Literature Sec Mrs McKenzie Visiting Com Mrs W Henderson and Mrs Stewart Sr Pianist Mrs Gunness.
The Wheatland Christmas Tree and Concert was held on Thursday with good cheer. Santa Claus distributed gifts and a dance followed. Misses Betty Norton and Jean Miller of Brandon visited Percy Bell's home last week.
A Children’s Amateur Contest will take place in the Parish Hall on Thursday January 2 at 8 p.m. under St James Literary Society. Open to children 16 and under with prizes of 73c 50c and 25c. Admission is 5c. Entries must reach Mrs McConachie by 6 p.m. on the contest day.
Ten years ago this week the Gazette notes Miss Phoenix received a $5000 annual salary increase, raising her yearly pay to $1400. Curling season began Friday, J. C. Cousins installed as Worshipful Master of Rivers Orange Lodge, tenders called to move Ancrum School to Bradwardine, five births in Rivers last week all boys.
