Rivers School Trustees met to approve minutes and the inspector’s report. They authorized payments totaling 547.86 and awarded six Van routes for 1942 with per day rates from 1.75 to 4.00. The district will close for Christmas and New Year from December 23 to January 5, 1942. November attendance and principal reports were read and filed.
The United Church W M S held its annual meeting at Mrs. W R Donogh s home on Thursday afternoon. Officers for next year include Hon Pres Mrs J H Couch Pres Mrs W R Donogh Vice Pres Mrs B J D Ellis Sec Mrs Alf Wareham Treas Mrs T W Offen Pianist Mrs E J Ford Sec of Christian Stewardship and Finance Mrs C J McFadden Temperance Sec Mrs Ford Strangers Sec Mrs J A McKenzie Missionary Monthly Sec Mrs R G Sinclair Mission Band Leaders Mrs A W Whyte and Mrs Margaret McKay.
H H Nesbitt received a cablegram on Monday morning from his nephew Sgt Pilot Ralph Post overseas acknowledging receipt of a parcel and sending Christmas greetings. Ralph Post is the son of Mr and Mrs S Post of Bradwardine and has many friends in the district.
The Red Cross War Work group held a Dec 16 meeting with no session on the next date while continuing work on Dec 30. Wool donations from farmers are requested for quilt fillings, with finished articles to be shipped before year end including scarves mitts socks caps and a child's dress among others. Season's greetings to all.
