A quiet but pretty wedding was held at John Black Presbyterian Manse in East Kildonan on a Wednesday in December. Rev Hugh J Robertson married Margaret Mildred White and Charles Williams of Bradwardine Edinburgh, Scotland, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Williams.

Western Canadians Take Christmas Trains to Atlantic Ports

Many Western Canadians will spend Christmas in the Old Country. Two CN specials left Winnipeg last week for the Atlantic seaboard carrying prairie and British Columbia passengers to connect with Cunard liners. Another CN special left December 11 for the White Star S S Canada and Cunard S S Carmania sailing from Halifax December 24.

Ward 3 bye election result announced at Town Hall

The Ward 3 bye election drew modest interest but many voters used their franchise on Friday. C H Gabe served as returning officer at the Town Hall. Poll closed at five o clock and Norman Tivy won with 43 votes to represent Ward Three for two years beside Councillor A Johnson.

The paper will publish on Wednesday as Christmas Day falls on Thursday. All copy must be in earlier to meet the schedule. Advertisement copy due by Monday noon and news copy by Monday evening.

The event in Rivers features the Society Five providing music for a Christmas Night dance at Odd Fellows Hall on December 25. Gazette Stationery promotes the largest collection of Christmas Cards at the event.

The Family Herald and Weekly Star of Montreal offers ten thousand dollars in cash prizes for best estimates of total votes in the next Federal Election. It notes 3,119,306 polled out of 4,435,310 in 142 percent and invites subscribers to submit estimates at no cost. Community Club Masquerade Ball Prize List

Prizes for the Community Club Masquerade Ball on New Year’s Eve include sweaters for the best original home made costumes from R. M. Ballantyne Co and A. McDonald, cigars, fancy casseroles, silk hose, and chocolates. Annual Ball of Court Daly Foresters Held in Oddfellows Hall

The Maladian Order of Foresters will stage its annual dance at Odd fellows Hall on Friday December 19 with Society Five Orchestra providing music. Dancing begins at 9, lunch is provided, admission is 1.00 for gentlemen and 50 cents for ladies. Committee in charge includes Bert Taylor Robt H White and M Bowman.
