Local visitors and travels noted in town life

Touma and Ost Walter Blewitt of Gilbert Plains have been visiting in town. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Harvey spent the week end in Winnipeg. Mrs. D. R. Robins has returned from a visit with relatives at Port Arthur Ont. Mrs. M. Hedley has left for Oak River after visiting friends in Rivers for the past month. Mr. and Mrs. S Harvath and family have returned from a holiday in northern Saskatchewan. Mrs. J. Kenner and Jackie Edmonton are visiting here, guests of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McKenzie. N. E. Sargent of Beresford was a recent visitor at the home here of his brother and sister in law, Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Sargent. The 61st wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John Stevenson was observed quietly at their Third avenue home on Saturday last. Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Johnstone and son Malcolm, Bracken Sask. have been guests of the former's sisters, the Misses Jean and Cora Johnstone. Mrs. C. A. Aneay is visiting at the home of the Misses Jean and Cora Johnstone on her way home to Prince Albert Sask from eastern Canada. Sydn.Lar. A. G. and Mrs. Lawrence and daughter Ree of Ottawa were visitors this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Maxted Fifth avenue. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Marcino will leave this week to reside in Port Arthur Ont. Formerly of Erickson the Marcino family moved to Rivers about a year ago taking up residence at 760 Fifth avenue.

Women Learn in Rivers Parish Classes Led by Miss Willmott

Four district ladies Mrs H Watkins Mrs A Wood Mrs F English and Victoria Wiens joined evening sessions for Sunday school teachers and youth leaders in the Rivers parish hall. Miss F Willmott led the courses and spoke on diocese youth work at St Matthew's WA and related groups. She received a gift after closing the Rivers classes and conducted Sunday service at St Matthew's Ancrum.

Shirley Seater Visits Parents As Calf Club Meets

Bradwardine Miss Shirley Seater, staff member, spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs George Seater in Brandon. Pictures were shown at a calf and swine club gathering at Harding Tuesday night, with mothers supplying lunch. Red Cross members held a quilting bee at Mrs A Baily's home. Mrs R W Dobson shipped sewn articles and quilts from Lothair and Bradwardine to headquarters. Ella Bridgeman matron of Heloraine hospital visited her parents here for the weekend.

Women's Institute Officers Installed in Manitoba Chapter

Mrs. K Newcombe, Manitoba president, spoke on the Canadian association of consumers. New officers elected at an installation December 5 led by Mrs. T E Wright include Mrs. J Hart president, Mrs. G Seater first vice president, Mrs. F Bridgeman second vice president, Mrs. C Ferman secretary, Mrs. F Ashton treasurer, with several committees named. The institute contributed seven quilts, three blankets, and clothing to the Korea relief fund directed by Dr Hitechmanova.
