At a Rivers meeting the Community Club unanimously organized a fundraising drive to erect a War Memorial honoring local men who served and died in the Great War. A committee led by Chairman Sid Simpsons and including Secretary Wilfred Barsons Teacher Chester McFadden will receive donations and welcome fundraising ideas.
In a December wedding at Lothair, Miss Clara Margaret Vickery wed Mr William Z L Bailey before about eighty five guests. The ceremony was at 3 pm with Rev Dickson officiating and Mendelssohn wedding music. The couple depart for Texas for a three month honeymoon before returning to Bradwardine area.
The Curling Club met Friday evening at Town Hall with President R G Sinclair presiding. After discussion, skips were elected and re-election of skips and re-choosing of rinks were approved for the second schedule. The Schwalm Cup opens the season with a proposed rink lineup across Skip Third and Second Lead positions including J Thompson Misa and multiple players.
At the Nov 30 meeting the U F M auditors reported a healthy surplus to start the New Year. Elected officials include President J W Smith Vice President W McFarlane Sec Treas G L Davies Directors E C Hales G L Davies R E James W Swann Mrs G Stephens and Mrs C Hales Entertainment Committee K C L Davies Organist Mrs Davies Janitor E James Stuart Thomas, a longtime district resident, attended with a club bag and farewell address before departing for Wales. Next regular meeting is Dec 14.
