B Cauley appeared in Brandon Police Court charged with possessing liquor on Aug 13 under the Manitoba Temperance Act. Evidence showed he lived in a boarding car on a railway track. The defence argued it was his private residence but the Crown proved it was not. He was fined 200 dollars plus costs.
Canada is nearing completion of a sky road map covering all routes within the Dominion. Director Scott says the directory will include civil and military aviation and may feature an aerial survey with serial cameras. Cooperation with other government branches is a key part of the project.
In Montreal on Aug 20 the Canadian Car and Foundry Company plans to close all plants. The move would leave about 5,000 workers unemployed. The Trades and Labor Council will appeal to Labor Minister Gideon Robertson to pressure reopening of Dominion shops and rehire around 2,000 mechanics. The decision was made at the council meeting tonight.
