Knights Templar origins and fate across medieval sites
The Knights Templars began in 1117 with quarters at the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem to guard pilgrims to the Holy Land. They grew powerful, were feared, and dissolved by Clement V in 1312. Many convicted of heresy were imprisoned in England, with some burned in Paris. The Paris trial records survive as evidence.
