The Gazette urges public spirit to back a cottage hospital with support from Rivers and surrounding rural municipalities. It notes excitement over the new school and references Dr Thorn ton's Manitoba education remarks on phonographs in schools for recreation, exercise and language lessons.
A public meeting will be held at Town Hall on Monday May 3 at 8 p.m. to consider the advisability of a hospital for the Town and nearby Rural Municipalities. All residents and affected communities are urged to attend.
The Rivers Boys and Girls Club executive will meet in the Bank Chambers at 7 p.m. on Wednesday May 5 to revise this year’s prize list. A good attendance is requested.
Registration of electors in Rivers constituency will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday May 1 and 12. Other registration locations are listed in the Gazette. Courts of Revision will be held at Town Hall Rivers on June 16.
All car owners are warned to display the 1920 license plates on their vehicles. Drivers other than owners must have a permit. Those who do not comply will be prosecuted.
A regular Rivers Town Council meeting on a Wednesday in April presided by Mayor Thompson passes several resolutions. Funds are granted to Rest Room and telephone service is extended. Bylaw No 131 receives readings. Secretary Treasurer roles are combined at $150 monthly with June 1 start. A public meeting is planned to discuss a potential local hospital.
