Memorial Service and Local Society Notes

Ten years ago a memorial service was held at United Church for Mrs. P. C. Gelsthorpe. Edythe Mitchell gave a piano recital featuring her pupils. Ladies Committee elected for golf club includes Mrs Hedberg Mrs Grant and Mrs Lyon. Tenders called for sale of Aetna Pendennis school sites and old Pendennis School. Rivers Fire Brigade Reorganized In Stepwise Assignments

A Rivers Fire Brigade reorganization meeting last Wednesday allocated posts. James Taylor becomes Chief with T W Offen as vice-chief. Assignments cover Chemical Engine, Hydrant and Hose sections, Ladders, and Signal duties with a practice set for Wednesday April 27 at 2 30 pm.

Sunday services and traffic act amendment noted

On the 2nd Sunday after Easter Roseville 11.00 a m Ancram 3.00 p m Rivers 7.30 p m Sunday School at 2 00 p m Legislation last session amended the Highway Traffic Act making it an offense for one car to pass another on a designated curve with a fine of 10 dollars and costs regardless of accident involvement.

District Drama Festival at Rivers May 3 and 4

The Aopusi Drama Festival of Hamiota District will be held at Rivers on May 3 and 4 in the 10 C.F. Hall. Three plays per session include Yes Means No and The House With the Twisty Windows. Adjudicator is Mr Robert Jarman of Winnipeg. Supper served 5 to 7:30 p.m. Dance after final show. admission 35 cents adults, 20 cents children. season tickets available. John H. Meeting of Rivers School Board Proceedings

The Rivers School Board held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday April 20 at 8:00 p.m. Mr Beattie was elected chair and the minutes from the previous meeting were adopted. Accounts totaling 179.71 were ordered paid. March reports from the Principal and Attendance Officer were read and filed. The meeting adjourned.
