Turbulent Manitoba assembly session ends in lull
Premier Campbell faces a heated debate over a timber area swap with Manitoba Pulp and Paperco. Conservatives and CCF clash on public auction principles and federal road aid. Debates over health insurance, Indian enfranchisement, flood funds, and liquor reports provoke sharp exchanges before prorogation. The session closes with God Save the Queen as the house winds down.

Prairie Pastures Need Protection Early in Season
Western Canada prairie pastures fail to grow much in spring and require protection until mid June. The Dominion Department of Agriculture advises supplementary pastures, with two acres of crested wheat grass per cow for May and early June. Oats offer midsummer and late fall grazing, Russian wild ryegrass and Intermediate wheatgrass are valuable additions. spring remains most critical for development. Information on seeds, sowing, and grazing can be obtained from local experimental farms or agricultural representatives.
