Prairie ranch life in Youngstown Alta shows resilient farming
The diary describes the Butler Cattle Company on a horned Hereford dryland ranch in Youngstown Alta. Gord and Lee Ann Butler manage with family help from Grandpa Jack, Grandma Kathleen, Curt, and two young helpers. They haul hay, store nearly 4 000 round bales, raise 500 cows, and note Special Areas financing, strong local schools, and regional rebirth through reclamation and prudent governance.
