Sioux Valley Signs First Prairie Self-Government Pacts
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation and the Manitoba and federal governments sign self-government agreements eliminating parts of the Indian Act. The deal grants the community authority over economic development land management education housing and water with broader governance tools to attract opportunities and improve living conditions. Approximately 2450 members with 56 percent on reserve.
