Voters on Wednesday, Oct. 25 cast ballots in municipalities and a school division. Kenton elected Sheldon Rapley and incumbent Lloyd Waterman with 72 and 66 votes respectively, while Dan Mazier won Ward 2 in Rolling River with 200 votes. Rivers elected Al Morken as mayor 300 to 232, and Rapid City re-elected Mayor Terry Christie 99 to 80.
Rolling River School Division approves an additional quarter-time Oak River teacher for 2006 07. Proposes bypass around Forrest to protect pedestrians. Approves 2006 07 field trips pending final itineraries. Donates surplus TVs to nonprofits. LM Architects to study division office garage and maintenance buildings in Minnedosa. Funds for Minnedosa Collegiate water and sewer upgrade and Minnedosa Regional Archives shelving. Next meeting November 2 at 7 30 p.m.
A Kenton Memorial Hall lunch on Oct 18 marked Co op Week with beef on a bun and cake from Houston's Restaurant. Oct 19 at Vanguard Credit Union celebrated Credit Union Day with coffee and cookies, cookies from Houston's. Women Alive Conference attendees heard speakers in Brandon on Oct 21.
