Landowner Protects Land With Permanent Habitat Easements
Fred and Sandra Tait of Rosendale set aside more than 100 acres under two Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation Conservation Agreements. The 55 acres along the Assiniboine River and 55 acres on their home-quarter protect forested land from drainage and allow sustained timber harvest. Neighbors are following, with two signed and a third considering. The habitat is a permanent oasis in the agricultural landscape and supports wildlife from cougars to elk and beaver along the river valley.
