Benefit supper aids Rivers family as baby faces cancer
Rivers Legion Hall hosted a beer supper sponsored by Help extends and Area Lions Club members to support Avery Gerring eight month old daughter of Tyler and Chris. The event drew 164 attendees and 11 takeout meals. Proceeds go to the Gerring family at a social on Oct. 7 and donations are accepted at Westoba Credit Union where a trust is set up.

Rivers karate member headed to nationals in Saskatoon
Morgan Hougton, seven, from Rivers Karate Club, will attend the 31st IKD National Karate Championships in Saskatoon October 7 to 9. Coach Wendy Flannigan highlights her rapid rise, kata mastery, and the judges’ positive assessment after August camp. Several teammates qualified but cannot attend due to school. The club is fundraising to cover Hougton’s expenses. donations are welcome via coach Flannigan.
